Dr. Ajoy Kumar questions Raghubar’s efforts for ownership rights in Jamshedpur

Sunday, 27 October 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Congress candidate from Jamshedpur East, Dr. Ajoy  Kumar, raised critical questions about former Chief Minister Raghubar  Das’s commitment to securing ownership rights for the people of Jamshedpur.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, Dr. Ajoy  pointed out that despite holding the MLA seat from Jamshedpur East for 25 years and eventually becoming Chief Minister, Raghubar  Das failed to fulfill his long-standing promise of granting ownership rights to residents.

According to Dr. Ajoy , Raghubar  Das misled the public, using the promise of ownership rights as a political tool without taking meaningful steps to address the issue. “Raghubar  Das, who rose to power with the support of the people, prioritized his own political interests over the well-being of Jamshedpur’s residents,” he said, adding that displacement due to "encroachment" became common during Das’s tenure, undermining the rights and security of local communities.

Dr. Ajoy  further accused Das of working in favor of corporate interests, particularly Tata, rather than as a true representative of the people. He questioned the former Chief Minister’s motives, highlighting a controversial decision to grant sublease rights rather than full ownership. “If the intention was to grant sublease rights, why were certain colonies taken off lease?” he asked.

The congress candidate also criticized a decision from Das’s administration, which limited lease rights to 10 decimals of land, calling it “the biggest hurdle in the path to ownership rights.” He argued that this measure kept genuine ownership out of reach for many residents, leaving them without lasting security over their properties.

Dr. Ajoy  emphasized that the ownership issue extends beyond Jamshedpur, affecting the entire state. He promised to form a dedicated commission to pursue ownership rights if elected, assuring residents of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand that, with public support, he would work toward a lasting solution to this pressing issue.
