In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Assembly Elections, Northern Chotanagpur Division Commissioner Pawan Kumar conducted a comprehensive review meeting at the Bokaro Collectorate Auditorium, Hazaribagh, on Saturday evening. The meeting was attended by key officials, including District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav, Deputy Development Commissioner Girja Shankar Prasad, and various nodal officers of election departments.
During the session, Commissioner Kumar evaluated the arrangements made for polling stations with over 1,200 voters, ensuring that additional polling personnel would be stationed at these locations. The District Election Officer confirmed that one extra polling staff member has been assigned to each such booth. Furthermore, nine centers have been designated for postal ballot voting, with these locations already announced in local newspapers.
Additional steps have been taken to enhance voter awareness, with voter information slips (VIS) being distributed by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). To further boost voter turnout, the Commissioner reviewed the Voter Awareness Groups (BAGs) and other Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities in low-turnout areas. The district administration has also planned to send bulk SMS messages on voting day to encourage maximum participation.
The Commissioner concluded by stressing the importance of addressing citizen complaints and directed the respective nodal officers to ensure a transparent and efficient electoral process. Key officials, including those from vehicle management, personnel coordination, EVM logistics, and the media coordination unit, participated actively in the meeting, each updating their respective preparations.
