Disruption of House proceedings not in interest of democracy: Soren

Thursday, 01 August 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Disruption of House proceedings is neither in the interest of democracy nor for the state and the opposition should raise issues in a dignified way, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said on Wednesday targeting the BJP.

The CM outburst against BJP was due to opposition members sitting on dharna demanding government reply on the issue of youth and contract workers and all the promises made in JMM/Congress alliance government manifesto.

CM Soren said after my return from jail, the opposition is feeling more pricked. There is a thorn in their chair. They stand up quickly. The opposition has a lot of concerns.

He said that he will answer all the questions of the opposition. “Will satisfy you. Will answer all the questions from jobs to other questions. You people must listen,” Soren said.

CM stood up to speak during the government's reply to a question related to drinking water supply by BJP MLA Anant Ojha. Earlier, there was a debate going on between departmental minister Mithilesh Thakur and Anant Ojha on the subject of drinking water supply.

CM Hemant Soren said that Anant Ojha is a friend of our district. I went there. Saw the water supply scheme. It ran for a day and then stopped. It is not known whether it ran later or not. Water has to be arranged from the Ganga river. The Ganga river is not an ordinary river. There is a long process to take water from the Ganga river. I will personally look into it. We will work together.

Speaker Rabindranath Mahato, was also upset with the repeated adjournment of the house. The speaker said that the opposition does not want the House to function. They do not even want to hear the reply of the government. Therefore, with a heavy heart and hurt by the behavior of the Leader of the Opposition, I adjourn the proceedings of this House till tomorrow.

During the fourth day's proceedings, Rabindranath Mahato, pointing towards the BJP, said that I understand your anxiety. But we will not let the assembly table become a part of this anxiety. I have accepted this thing that the opposition does not want the House to function. They do not even want to hear the reply of the government. Therefore, with a heavy heart and hurt by the behavior of the Leader of the Opposition, I adjourn the proceedings of this House till tomorrow.

On the fourth day of the monsoon session, under a short notice question in the House, BJP MLA Anant Ojha surrounded the government over the Jal Jeevan Mission. Anant Ojha asked that water supply was to be provided to 62 lakh houses in the state. What happened to it? The MLA raised the question whether water is being supplied to 13 thousand houses under the Sahebganj Rural Water Supply Scheme? Responding to this, departmental minister Mithilesh Thakur said that both the central and state governments have equal role for development. The state government is giving 60 percent of the amount for this scheme. Not even 4.75 percent of the work was done in the previous government. Today, even in adverse circumstances, 54 percent of the work has been completed.

Minister Mithilesh Thakur said that the Sahebganj Urban Water Supply Scheme will be completed by December. According to the department, drinking water is being supplied to 33 lakh 75 thousand houses in the state so far.

In the house Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Rai accused the Health Department and the Health Minister of committing a serious scam and has submitted a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren in this regard. In the letter, Saryu has written to the CM that the Health Department of your government has decided to commit a new scam. This scam is related to the selection of private outsourcing agencies supplying manpower for important works of the department. This scam will have an adverse effect on the low-paid workers selected by the agencies. Your government's health minister is directly involved in this decision.

Meanwhile, Mandar MLA Shilpi Neha Tirkey has said that there is irregularity in the selection of beneficiaries of Abua Awas at the Panchayat level. Instead of the members of the Panchayat level verification team working actively, only one member approves the list arbitrarily and the villagers are suffering due to this. In her short notice question asked in the Assembly today, Tirkey alleged that there is no transparency in the selection of beneficiaries at the ground level, which is necessary.
