With formation of a strong and stable government in the State, people have pinned hopes for all round development of Jharkhand.
With hopes for cleaner and hygienic surroundings, more job opportunities within the State, better infrastructure and a curb on inflation, Ranchiites across various age groups are hoping that the new government coming to power will fulfill the promises it made during its election campaign.
Recent graduate, a 23- year old Divy Bhardwaj, is hoping that the new government will work towards creating more job opportunities for the youth within the State in the near future. “I cannot remember the last time a State government exam was smoothly conducted in Jharkhand. Adding to the misery, new vacancies are also rarely seen these days. As an aspirant it disturbs me to come across job opportunities in other states for which only locals are eligible. I am hoping that this student centric problem will be taken care of by the new government. Students of Jharkhand will be looking at this government with a lot of hope and enthusiasm for their share of opportunities.”
“I am happy that our State will see a chief minister continue after one term for the very first time. This brings around some hopes of achieving political stability in our State. The promise of the new government to make gas cylinders available at only half the current price had my attention and I hope that they deliver on it. As a homemaker, inflation is another pressing issue I regularly have to deal with and I really hope that the government takes some steps to curb price rise and make everyday life easier for the citizens of Jharkhand,” said homemaker Roshi Singh.
“Concrete work needs to be done particularly for the educational and healthcare sectors in rural areas. A well- equipped primary healthcare centre with basic first aid facilities should be in set up in villages. For education, there should be some accountability from the teachers for what they are teaching. Policies need to be framed where these teachers need to be assessed at regular intervals. Since the government has already set up a huge network of schools and to make the whole process of imparting education more effective, the government should form some policies to check where the teacher’s accountability is also marked,” said Dr S Shadab Hassan, faculty Indian Institute of Information Technology, Ranchi.
For senior citizen Tajinder Singh, uniform electricity supply and clean drinking water for the people is something that needs to be worked on. “People from sectors should have access to portable drinking water. For those who cannot afford boring or RO water purifiers, a provision should be made where they have access to clean drinking water. The prominent roads are constructed and also repaired but the by lanes are often ignored. With a long term plan in mind, roads should be made with proper drainage system. While some areas have continuous power supply, others have frequent power cuts- irrespective of the locality uniform power supply should be ensured. Parks with walking tracks for senior citizens and play areas for children is something our City needs.”
