It is being predicted that the effects of cyclone Fengal which is hovering over the Bay of Bengal will be seen in Jharkhand as well in the beginning of December.

The cyclone is expected to make a landfall in the late evening hours on November 30 close to Puducherry with wind speeds of up to 70 to 80 km per hour gusting to 90 km per hour.

“As a cyclone is a big system, its outer cloud bend is reaching parts of Jharkhand as well, especially the southern regions. Due to this, parts of southern Jharkhand will witness light to moderate rainfall while the adjoining central parts may experience scattered rain. For the rest of the State, there will be a drop in the daytime temperature and a rise in the minimum temperature levels,” said Director MET Centre, Ranchi Abhishek Anand.

As per the Meteorological Department, Ranchi parts of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Saraikela- Kharsawn along with Simdega and Khunti will witness light rain while parts of central Jharkhand including the State capital and its adjoining areas may witness scattered rain.

The official further adder that the effects of this system will be seen in Jharkhand till December 4 while from December 5 when the effects will wear off, with the incoming north westerly winds, there will be a drop in the minimum temperature levels.

As per the bulletin released on Saturday evening, the minimum temperature in the State capital was recorded at 12.6 degree Celsius which is one notch above normal. The minimum temperatures in Jamshedpur and Daltonganj were observed at 17.9 and 12.7 degree Celsius respectively. The former was 5 degrees above normal while the latter 1.3 degrees above normal.

From December 1 to December 4, the minimum temperature in the State capital and its surrounding areas will be around 15 degree Celsius.
