Pulling up officials for the continuing presence of stray cattle on city streets, District Collector Kaushalendra Vikram Singh on Thursday reviewed plans to address the growing issue.

The district administration stated that Singh convened civic and administrative officials after an inspection revealed large herds of cattle in several areas of the state capital.

He reviewed the progress of the project for the new cow shelter and instructed officials to ensure that the three-phase construction is completed within the stipulated time frame. Notably, CM will soon perform the Bhumi Pujan for an extensive cow shelter at Barkhedi Abdullah on the outskirts of the city.

The BMC will be responsible for managing the facility, which, after completion, will house 10,000 stray cattle and include veterinary facilities on the 25-acre campus. The cowshed, costing Rs 15 crore, will be funded by the Smart City project.
