Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation-stone for an integrated greenfield steel plant of JSW Utkal Steel Limited at Paradip on Friday.

The company will invest around Rs 65,000 crore for the 13.2-MTPA steel plant, which will come up at Dhinkia. It will generate employment opportunities for around 30,000 people.

The CM also laid the foundation-stone for a 1.20-MTPA green ammonia plant of ReNew E-Fuels Private Ltd having investment of Rs 22,000 crore and a 25,000-MTPA modern chemicals factory of Silox India Private Limited with Rs 500-crore investment. The projects will create job opportunities for around 5,000 people.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister said, “Late Biju Patnaik’s memories come to my mind whenever I visit Paradip. In the 1960s, he took the revolutionary step of establishing the Paradip Port. This was a milestone in Odisha’s development. Paradip has emerged as a major investment destination in eastern India.”

Mentioning that the new projects would provide jobs to around 35,000 people, Patnaik thanked the industrialists for the investments.
