CM for stringent action in elephants’ deaths

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Friday vowed to take stringent action against those responsible for the unnatural death of ten elephants at the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh.

He was speaking to officials at a meeting held at the Chief Minister's residence in the state capital. Top officials from the state administration were in attendance.

While Chief Secretary Anurag Jain attended the meeting virtually, those present at the meeting venue included Additional Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister's Office Rajesh Rajoura and Additional Chief Secretary for Forests Ashok Varma.

Apprising himself of the developments surrounding the deaths of the elephants, Chief Minister Yadav directed that a high-level team visit the sanctuary and gather comprehensive information on all aspects of the unfortunate incident.At the meeting, officials informed Yadav that a report on the incident will be ready in four days’ time, as investigations are still underway.

Minister of State for Forest Dilip Ahirwar and two senior officials will go to Umaria for this purpose.

Accompanying the Forest Minister will be Additional Chief Secretary Ashok Varma and Chief of the State Forest Force, PCCF Aseem Srivastava.They will submit a report within 24 hours, and strict action will be taken against the guilty individuals.
