CEO asks officials to keep an eye on illegal money transactions, intoxicants

Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand K. Ravi Kumar has said that in the Assembly Elections 2024, enforcement agencies should keep an eye on illegal transactions of money, illegal liquor, banned material or all such free seeds and seize them, which may have the potential to influence the voting.

He said that after the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, all the enforcement agencies are working in coordination, even after this, better performance is still expected in some areas. Today he was reviewing the assembly elections related to senior officials of all the enforcement agencies of the state.

Kumar said that not only cash, but efforts can also be made to lure voters with the lure of other items. All enforcement agencies should coordinate and take prompt action on all these activities. Everyone will have to make a joint effort to provide equal opportunity to all candidates and to conduct clean, fair and peaceful elections in the state.

Kumar said that information about any suspicious transaction by the bank should be shared with the Income Tax Department, so that raids can be conducted and criminals can be caught. He said that special attention should be paid to alcohol and intoxicants. Necessary steps should be taken to completely ban it.

He directed the officials of departments like Traffic, Forest Department, Airport Authority, Prohibition Department, Customs Department, Income Tax etc. to work diligently during the elections and completely stop illegal activities.

 

On this occasion, State Police Nodal Officer A.V. Homkar, Additional Chief Election Officer Dr. Neha Arora and senior officials of all enforcement agencies were present.

Meanwhile, holding a review meeting with all the District Electoral Officers and Nodal Officers of Police Postal Ballot and Postal Ballot Cell of the districts today Kumar said that not even a single voter should be deprived of his right to vote. For this, all the District Electoral Officers should provide Form 12 D to voters above 85 years of age or those disabled voters in their assembly constituencies who wish to vote from home.

Kumar said that Form 12 or 12 D must be made available to those absentee voters who are eligible and willing to vote through postal ballot. During the review, he said that while holding a meeting with the Nodal Officers related to all essential services, the forms should be made available to the voters willing to vote through postal ballot. He said that arrangements should also be made for the voting of the assistant police personnel engaged in election work through postal ballot, so that they are not deprived of their right to vote while on duty.

The CEO said that the polling personnel are being trained by national level trainers in all the districts. The District Election Officer must do a physical review of the training and ensure that the polling personnel receive complete training for EVM closing data collection, so that no error or doubt arises during the counting of votes.

Additional Chief Election Officer Dr. Neha Arora said that a calendar for the process of home voting and voting of voters engaged in the election has been issued in all the districts. Complying with this calendar, complete all the necessary work to complete the process of voting through postal ballot. She said that arrangements for home voting have to be made for voters above 85 years of age or disabled voters, who are unable to come to the polling station. For this, provide the forms to the voters marked by the BLO. She said that all the District Election Officers should issue a press release and give a toll free number, so that if there is any voter willing to do home voting, he can contact and ask for the form.
