With just a few hours left before the first phase of the Assembly election, the relentless sounds of campaign speakers that filled Jamshedpur for the past weeks finally went silent as the official campaign period came to an end.
Candidates across the district seized every final moment to connect with voters and make their cases heard, each hoping their efforts would resonate on Election Day.
For Congress candidate Dr. Ajoy Kumar, the quieter day offered a chance to reconnect with the community in a more personal way. Early Tuesday morning, Dr. Ajoy caught up on the headlines, something he hadn’t had time for during the campaign’s intense pace. Then, in a gesture of relatability, he took his motorbike and set off for Telco, where he spent time with locals at a tea stall. Over a simple cup of tea, he listened to residents’ thoughts, engaged in casual discussions, and walked through Telco Colony, greeting familiar faces and enjoying moments with the people he hoped to represent.
Upon returning home, Dr. Ajoy met with campaign workers who had come by to strategize and share their hopes for the final stretch. Many local residents also stopped by to show their support, with several congratulating him in advance, confident in his chances of winning.
Compared to the high-energy days of the campaign, Dr. Ajoy’s day was calm and grounded, a reminder of his commitment to staying connected with the community even after the campaign fervor. For Jamshedpur’s residents, the quiet day marked the end of campaign noise and the beginning of anticipation as they prepared to head to the polls.
Jamshedpur West Congress candidate Banna Gupta met with party workers and attended a few private events. “I have been following a strict routine ever since the campaigning started. I used to leave home early and return late in the evening. Today I am enjoying the much-needed break,” said Gupta.
Saryu Roy, who is contesting from Jamshedpur West , took time off to know what has come out in newspapers. "Saryuji rises early. He took a little rest today and also read newspapers. Also spoke to us about polling day,” an aide said. He met his confidantes to discuss polling.
