Chhattisgarh on Tuesday became the state which procures paddy at the highest price across the country.
The Vishnu Deo Sai government fulfilled yet another guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by e-transferring Rs 13,320 crore as input subsidy to farmers.
This was done under the Krishak Unnati Scheme.
The paid amount was the difference amount of promised price in Modi Guarantee -- Rs 3,100 a quintal -- and the MSP declared by the Centre.
Addressing the launch function of Krishak Unnati Scheme, Sai called the day as a lucky day and said it was a tribute to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
“Under the scheme, around 24.75 lakh farmers across the state were e-transferred an amount of Rs 13,320 crore as input subsidy,” a government spokesperson said.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh were also present virtually during the launch of the Chhattisgarh government’s Krishak Unnati Yojana at a programme at Balod district’s Saryu Prasad Agrawal Stadium.
