Hry STF nabs 179 most wanted criminals, 45 gangsters, and 309 hardcore offenders this Year so far


Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Kapur on Wednesday said that the Special Task Force (STF) has dismantled criminal networks, apprehending 179 most-wanted criminals, 45 gangsters or their associates, and 309 offenders involved in serious crimes this year so far. To strengthen law enforcement and maintain public safety, 53 SWAT teams have been formed and are deployed at checkpoints, especially during night hours, to keep a close watch on suspicious individuals. Vehicles on major roads are thoroughly checked during these operations. Haryana police has also launched periodic crackdowns under 'Operation Aakraman,' targeting criminal hideouts across the state. So far in 2024, 12,160 police teams have conducted raids, registered 3,943 FIRs, and arrested 7,586 criminals, DGP added. Kapur further said that according to the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) report, compared to the previous year, as of 30 September, there has been a 20.50 percent reduction in rape cases, a 33.10 percent decrease in molestation cases, a 42 percent drop in Dacoity, and a 33.10 percent decline in incidents of Robbery. Other crimes like extortion, blackmailing, murders, and vehicle theft have also seen a downward trend, he added.

Chd MC Commissioner directs officials to intensify vigilance on illegal vendors 

Chandigarh: A day after assuming charge, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar on Wednesday said that given the festive season, the MC has strengthened its vigilance and enforcement measures to curb illegal vending activities across the city. He also directed the enforcement wing, MCC, to extend its operational hours in Sector-17 to ensure effective control and monitoring during this period. The enforcement teams will remain on duty citywide until 8 PM, with an extended focus in Sector 17, where the drive will continue until 10 PM. This initiative aims to maintain order and ensure compliance with city regulations, ensuring that citizens and visitors can enjoy a safe and organized festive environment, he added.


BJP Govt should give farmers a rate of Rs 3100 on paddy, as promised:  Hooda

Chandigarh: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday alleged that farmers are forced to sell the crop at a rate lower than MSP due to non-purchase of paddy in mandis, while it had promised to give farmers a rate of Rs 3100 on paddy in the elections. “The BJP, as usual, has gone back on its promise after winning the elections,” he added. Hooda further said that the Government is not even providing DAP to the farmers for sowing the next crop. “Due to non-supply of fertilizers, farmers have to wait for many days in long queues. Still they are not able to get fertilizers and they have to buy fertilizers in the black market,” he said. 

Dera chief Ram Rahim returns to Sunaria jail in Rohtak

Rohtak: Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief and convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim on Wednesday returned to Sunaria jail in Rohtak after the completion of his 21-day parole. Ram Rahim, who stayed at the Dera ashram at Barnawa in Uttar Pradesh during the parole period, returned to the prison under tight security. He is undergoing 20-year imprisonment in connection with the rape of two of his disciples. Later, he was also convicted for the murder of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati.

189 challans issued for silencer blast & pressure horn in Gurugram

Gurugram: The Gurugram Traffic Police have issued 189 challans for ‘silencer blast’, mostly by Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycles and pressure horns in the previous month. ‘Silencer Blast’, technically an offense called ‘Silencer making noise’ under Sections 120 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules and 190(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act, is usually performed by switching the engine off and suddenly on again when the motorcycle is at a high speed.  A sound like that of a firecracker is produced. It is usually done in very heavy-engine motorcycles like the Bullet. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said a special campaign was launched by Gurugram Police in the previous month to curb traffic violations by using silencer blasts and pressure horns. "During the drive, a total of 189 challans were issued in the previous month, out of which 94 challans were issued for silencer blast and 95 for pressure horns. The traffic police also issued 189 challans in total and collected Rs 18.90 lakh as fines," he said.

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Wednesday said the State Government has made several decisions that directly benefited the people of Haryana. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took a pledge to establish a transparent system, and as a result, even before the government was sworn in, 25,000 children from poor families in Haryana secured government jobs without any expenses and slips. Addressing the Sant Ashirwad Samaroh at his official residence in Chandigarh, Saini said, “This sent a strong message across the state that our government works not for politics, but for the welfare of the people. We delivered on our promises, and the people of Haryana recognized that the Bharatiya Janata Party works not for votes but to build robust systems and we have proved it.” On the occasion, prominent saints of the State gathered. The event commenced with a havan-yagya performed by the saints, in which Saini also participated.
