When the scheme was introduced, the PM claimed it would clean the political system. But the BJP government concealed details of the donors and the number of donations received through electoral bonds before the Supreme Court struck it down. When CBI or ED enquiry was instituted against such firms, they donated through electoral bonds and the investigation was stopped. It was simply ‘Chanda do aur Dhanda lo’.”

Punjab CM allowed Centre, Haryana Govt to use tear gas and rubber bullets at farmers to evade arrest in liquor scam: Sukhbir

Bathinda: SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had allowed the Centre and the Haryana Government to use tear gas and shoot rubber bullets at state’s farmers to evade arrest in the multi-hundred crore liquor scam. Sukhbir, addressing public meetings in Bathinda Rural and Bhucho assembly segments, said that the Chief Minister knew he can go behind bars like his boss Arvind Kejriwal because he has perpetrated the same liquor scam in Punjab as was done in Delhi. “That is why he is ready to hand over the Punjab Government to the BJP by forming an AAP (Punjab) unit by taking it out of the control of the AAP central unit led by Kejriwal. This will be done in the same manner as the Shiv Sena and NCP were broken in Maharashtra by the BJP,” he said.

‘Kangaroo courts’ by kisan unions a sign of AAP leadership failure: Jakhar

Chandigarh: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Thursday said that Punjab is reeling under a dangerous crisis of a collapse of leadership with a “non-serious” Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann squarely responsible for Punjab’s ignominy and kangaroo courts taking roots. “The law and order in Punjab has hit a nadir with cases of extortion, drugs, loot, and murder on the rise…Jails in Punjab have become a safe haven for criminals leaving people on divine patronage…There are kisan unions that have become law unto themselves. Their vigilantism is rupturing ties between farmers and traders and others. In villages, people set up thekri pehras to ward off drugs. All these are signs of failed governance under Bhagwant Mann,” said Jakhar, adding that Kisan unions cannot exercise authority without responsibility. He said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is sought-after by the public today as he epitomizes a robust system of law and order in the State, which Punjab lacks.

Sensing defeat, AAP, SAD resorting to cheap tactics to disrupt my campaign: Parampal Sidhu

Bathinda: Retired IAS officer and BJP candidate from Bathinda Parampal Kaur Sidhu on Thursday minced no words to say that AAP and Akali Dal, “sensing their defeat in the coming poll”, were resorting to cheap tactics to stop her from doing her poll campaign. “However, their such actions are only boosting my morale and grit,” she said, while reacting to an effort to disrupt her poll campaign at Dikh village. She said that Bathinda public is watching all this, and this kind of planted confrontation is only making me more strong and motivated to work hard. “I am not going to stop by all this. Being an IAS, I had served people and after retiring from the job, the reason I joined politics was to serve Bathinda people more.  If my rivals think that by plotting this kind of confrontation against me. they would be successful to stop me. They are totally wrong. I want to tell them this would only make my resolve stronger and I am not going to make even a step back,” she declared.

Voting for AAP, Akalis means voting for BJP: Warring

Ludhiana: Punjab Congress president and party’s candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Thursday cautioned people against voting for the AAP and SAD lest they “unknowingly end up helping the BJP which they actually want to defeat”.

Warring, addressing a series of public meeting in Gill assembly segment, said: “Every vote that would be cast for AAP or the Akalis will indirectly help the BJP…Since neither of the two parties were in a position to defeat the BJP, they will end up cutting anti-BJP votes only. If you want to defeat BJP, your only option is to vote for Congress.” He also urged the people to ask AAP and Akali candidates what was their agenda. “AAP owes an explanation to the people of Punjab about reneging on various promises particularly paying Rs 1000 every month to women,” he added.
