In today’s rapidly evolving work landscape, professional success requires more than just technical expertise. Soft skills, often referred to as interpersonal or people skills, are crucial for effective collaboration, communication and problem-solving. The book ‘Cultivating Connections’ explores 11 essential soft skills that are increasingly vital in the modern workplace.
Soft skills encompass a range of qualities, including effective communication, leadership, teamwork, creativity, time management, flexibility, problem-solving, work ethic, critical thinking, conflict resolution and emotional intelligence. These skills are challenging to quantify but play a pivotal role in organisational success.
The book’s writer Dr Swayam Prabha Satpathy is a philanthropist, academician, author, editor and columnist. Being a corporate trainer and a career counsellor, she has been exposed to the need for soft skills as a life skill has to be mastered. She has been awarded with various awards. To name a few, Siksha Ratan Puraskar, Teacher's Excellence Award and Best Academician Award and a Special Award from the Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering. She has addressed and chaired sessions at many national and international conferences at the National University of Singapore 2013, Imperial College of London 2016 and Harvard Cambridge University Boston USA 2019, Bucharest State Economic University, Romania. Member of the Journal of Contemporary Literary Thought and is the section language editor of (ELT and Linguistics) Rupkatha Journals. She is presently the chief editor of Rupkatha Interdisciplinary Journals
She has also been a speaker at various universities of Odisha and other States of India like ICFAI Hyderabad and XUB Bhubaneswar as a resource person. She has numerous publications in national and international journals. She is one of the 100 Indian Women Achievers in the year 2023.

The other writer of the book Ansuman is an architect from MIT Manipal. Throughout his career journey, he has realised the need for soft skills. Soft skills help get the job whereas technical skills lead you to the doorstep. With a brilliant career, he takes an interest in sustainable and built environments and construction project management. He has also been acknowledged as a team leader by various organisations. He is a BIM enthusiast pursuing an MBA -CPM /RICS School of Built Environment. He has also published papers in national and international journals.
