BJP strongly replies to the allegations of Congress over drug haul

Responding to Congress allegations, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit chief Vishnudutt Sharma on Monday accused the opposition of attempting to tarnish the image of Madhya Pradesh by casting aspersions over the drug haul in the state capital.

Amid heavy politicking over the discovery of a massive cache of the synthetic MD drug in the state capital on Sunday, Sharma said that the Congress is unable to digest the success of the anti-drug operation.

He underlined that the joint operation by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and Narcotics Control Bureau was supported by the Madhya Pradesh police and the state intelligence unit.Sharma alleged that the success of the operation would not have been possible if the state government had let the information slip in front of Congress leaders.

In a direct attack on his counterpart in the state Congress, Sharma said that the opposition party leader was attempting to malign the image of Madhya Pradesh just as his leader Rahul Gandhi defames India at global fora.

Accusing the Congress of attempting to undermine the morale of the state police and intelligence agencies, the BJP leader asked if law enforcement agencies need to seek permission from the Congress before initiating action.

Responding to Congress allegations following the surfacing of one of the accused with BJP leaders, Sharma quoted former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who had said that a picture with a political leader does not amount to culpability, as anyone can take pictures with a public figure.

Touching a soft spot for the Congress, the Khajuraho MP questioned the opposition party's silence over the involvement of its Delhi unit RTI cell chief Vishnu Goyal, who has been identified as the kingpin of the Rs 5,600 crore drug case.

Sharma claimed that Rahul Gandhi has been meeting with anti-national elements while traveling abroad. He noted that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has met with Yasin Malik, who had been involved in disruptive activities in Kashmir.Responding to what he termed as demonization of the law enforcement apparatus in the state, Sharma said that Patwari was indulging in politics by tweeting false and fabricated claims.Sharma said that it was impossible for another state's police to carry out successful operations in Bhopal without the knowledge of the Madhya Pradesh police. The state police and intelligence are fully involved in preparing for such actions, he concluded.
