BJP raises alarms over 'Bangladeshi infiltrators'  and demographic changes in Santhal Pargana

Wednesday, 17 July 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

BJP’s national spokesperson, Tuhin Sinha, has raised serious concerns about the increasing number of 'Bangladeshi infiltrators' and the consequent demographic changes in the Santhal Pargana region. In a press communique, Sinha alleged that the State government, led by the JMM-Congress coalition, has systematically marginalized the tribal population in the area.

Sinha pointed out that the Jharkhand High Court has already issued directives to the Hemant Soren-led government to take immediate measures to identify and deport these infiltrators. However, he accused the State government of dragging its feet on the issue, allowing the situation to worsen. "The continuous decline in the tribal population, coupled with an unexpected rise in the Muslim population in Santhal Pargana, is a warning signal," he said.

The BJP spokesperson invoked historical context to underscore his point. "This is the same place where 170 years ago, Sidhu Kanhu initiated a revolt to fight for the rights of the tribals. Today, the enemies are not the British but 'Bangladeshi infiltrators' who have been settled here under the vested interests of the JMM-Congress government," Sinha asserted.

Sinha emphasized that it is crucial to address this issue promptly to prevent further marginalization of the indigenous tribal communities. He argued that the demographic changes pose a threat to the cultural and social fabric of the region. "It is time to put an end to the misrule of the State Government," he declared, calling for decisive action against the alleged infiltration.

The BJP's stance on this issue is likely to escalate political tensions in the region, as the party intensifies its campaign against the JMM-Congress government. The allegations of demographic manipulation and neglect of tribal interests are expected to be a significant point of contention in the political discourse of Jharkhand.

As the situation unfolds, the response of the State government and its efforts to comply with the High Court's directives will be closely monitored. The issue of 'Bangladeshi infiltrators' and demographic changes in Santhal Pargana is poised to become a critical topic in Jharkhand's political landscape, influencing both public opinion and electoral outcomes.
