The 51st Foundation Day of the Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium (BJEM) School was held here on Monday in a very sombre and solemn atmosphere.
Inaugurating the gala occasion, Regional Officer, Central Board of Secondary Education, Regional Office, Bhubaneswar, K Srinivasan eulogised the achievements of the glorious institution.
Chairman of the school managing committee Raghunath Mishra gave credit to all the stakeholders like the parents community, students, management and civil society for their active participation and co-operation during the eventful fifty years journey of the institution. Vice-chairman of the committee Prof Dr AK Tiwari wished that the institution march on to observe its centenary celebration with more achievements.
Secretary of the managing committee, noted social worker and educationist Pratap Jena, and additional manager Sangram Nayak also spoke, among others.
Toppers among the students over the last 50 years were awarded. A cultural extravaganza was held. The founders of the school like late Radha Mohan Mohanty, former noted educationist and principal KC Das, advocate KK Nayak and the first principal of the play school “O. Littlewood” were paid glowing tributes.
