On October 3, 1972, Bokaro Steel Plant commissioned Blast Furnace No. 1, marking the beginning of hot metal production. Over the past 52 years, BF#1 has produced a total of 33.9 million tons of hot metal, significantly contributing to the nation's progress.
To mark this milestone, a special ceremony was held on October 3, 2024, in the presence of Executive Director (Projects & Additional Charge Material Management) C.R. Mahapatra, Executive Director (Finance & Accounts) Suresh Rangani, Executive Director (HR & Additional Charge Works) Rajan Prasad, Executive Director (SRU) P.K. Rath, BGH In-Charge Dr. B.B. Karunamay, Chief General Manager (Blast Furnace) M.P. Singh, and other senior officers and employees of the plant. A video message from the Director In-Charge of Bokaro Steel Plant, Birendra Kumar Tiwari, was displayed, congratulating the entire Blast Furnace team and encouraging them to focus on safety, environmental protection, and maximizing production.
During the event, discussions took place about the rich history and promising future of BF#1. Several sections of the Blast Furnace department were recognized for their outstanding performance, and contract workers were also honored for their excellent contributions. To commemorate the occasion and promote biodiversity within the plant, a tree plantation drive was conducted by senior officials.
The top management and senior officials of BSL present at the event encouraged the Blast Furnace team to continue setting new benchmarks of excellence. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mahendra Prasad.
