As many as thirty places in the State recorded maximum temperatures at 40 degrees Celsius or above on Sunday. Baripada recorded the day’s highest temperature of 44.6 degree.
Baripada was followed by Nuapada at 44 degree, Talcher 43.8, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar 43.6 each, Angul 43.3, Balangir 43.2, Boudh and Sundargarh 43 each, Dhenkanal 42.9, Titilagarh 42.5, Rourkela 42.1, Bhawanipatna and Nayagarh 42 each, Chandbali and Hirakud 41.9 each, Bhadrak 41.8, Malkangiri and Sambalpur 41.7 each ,said the Regional Office of the India Metreological Department (IMD) here.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 41 degree each.
There would be no large change in the maximum temperature during the next 24 hours while there would be a gradual fall by 2 to 3 degree during the subsequent three days and a rise by 2 degree to 3 degree thereafter at many places in the districts of the State, said the IMD.
