Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi on Wednesday inspected the ‘Kanwar camp’ at Maharaja Agrasen Park in Kashmiri Gate and instructed officials to ensure everything is in place for the pilgrims' comfort and safety.

During her visit, the senior AAP leader said, “For the last nine years, the Kejriwal government has been setting up camps for the convenience of Kanwariyas in the holy month of Sawan. This year also 185 Kanwar camps are being set up across Delhi where all the facilities will be available for the Kanwariyas.”

She added that in the camps, waterproof tents, accommodation, sleeping arrangements, clean water, toilets and other arrangements are made. “Special stands are provided for keeping the Kanwars of the Kanwariyas. Also, every Kanwar camp has medical facilities,” Atishi claimed, adding that serving the ‘Shiv Bhakts’ in the holy month of Sawan is a work of virtue and faith.

“In this direction, the Kejriwal government is fulfilling its responsibility by providing all the facilities to the Kanwariyas,” she said. The camp located in Kashmiri Gate is one of the largest Kanwar camps in the country where arrangements can be made for the stay of about 20,000 Kanwariyas at a time. Separate halls have been prepared for the rest of the male and female Kanwariyas and a large dining hall has also been prepared for the Kanwariyas to receive ‘prasad’.

While instructing the officials, Revenue Minister Atishi said, “All the necessary facilities should be arranged for the convenience of Kanwariyas in the Kanwar camp so that the ‘Shiv Bhakts’ (devotees of lord Shiva) do not have to face any kind of problem.”

Further, she added that the district administration should be on alert during the ‘Kanwar Yatra’ so that the Kanwariyas do not face any kind of problem and the Kanwariyas get all the necessary facilities in the camp. “Every necessary step should be ensured for the safety and facilities of the Kanwariyas,” Atishi said.

Minister mentioned that this year also 24x7 medical staff will be present in all the camps so that the Kanwariyas can be given immediate treatment if needed and for their convenience, local dispensaries have been linked to the camps. “CATS ambulances have been connected for any emergency. Hospitals have been instructed to make special arrangements for the treatment of Kanwariyas,” she stated.
