The agitation of Assistant police personnel will continue, they announced on Friday. They said that if the demands agreed upon in the talks held with the Government on Monday are accepted in the Cabinet meeting to be held on July 24, then only they will end their agitation. Till the time the Government does not bring their demands to the cabinet, their agitation will continue.
The Assistant police personnel, who were protesting in Morhabadi ground demanding adjustment in Jharkhand Police had gone out to surround the Chief Minister’s residence on July 19. During this, Jharkhand Police had lathicharged them. The Assistant policemen were reinstated in 12 districts of the State, Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Lohardaga, Gumla, Simdega, Khunti, East and West Singhbhum, Dumka and Giridih on an honorarium of Rs 10,000.
Just a day ago on Monday the Assistant policemen, who were on strike for 22 days, had announced to end their protest. The meeting of MLAs with the police personnel was successful on Monday.
During the 6-hour long talks, an agreement was reached on a 30 percent increase in honorarium. Along with this, an agreement has been reached on a 1-year extension. An agreement has also been reached on reservation for the recruitment of Home Guards and Forest Guards. The MLAs have said that a proposal will be brought in the Cabinet regarding this.
Former Minister and MLA from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Mathura Mahato, MLA Sudivya Kumar, Sukhram Oraon, Congress MLA Rajesh Kachhap, Naman Vikas Kongari and CPI (ML) MLA Vinod Kumar Singh were present in the talks with the assistant policemen.
