All booths to be monitored by CCTV: CEO

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has said that every counting centre will be under CCTV surveillance in the assembly elections. He said that conducting transparent and error-free polling is the priority of the Election Commission (EC). 

 

Kumar said that That is why polling centres will be monitored from the Chief Electoral Office, Dhurwa with the help of CCTV as well as webcasting. He said that during the last Lok Sabha elections, three mistakes had come to light through these means, which were corrected in time. He was addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Saturday.


The CEO said that the officers and personnel deployed at the polling centres will have the ASD list. "The list will have details of those who have passed away, those who have shifted to another place and absent voters. This will reduce the chances of duplication to almost nil," he added.

Kumar said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, illegal material and cash worth Rs 1 billion, 66 crore, 82 lakh has been seized in the State so far. "In this, the State police has made the highest seizure of Rs 121 crore 96 lakh. The Commercial Tax Department has made seizures of Rs 8.43 crore, the Excise Department has made seizures of Rs 7.31 crore, the Forest Department has made seizures of Rs 7.22 crore and the Income Tax Department has made seizures of Rs 1.62 crore," he added.

 

Meanwhile, Kumar today said that the role of voters in the voter awareness social media hashtag campaign #VoteDeneChalo is commendable. With the efforts of people, more than 65 thousand posts were made on X (Twitter) alone in the hashtag campaign from 5 to 7 pm run by the Chief Electoral Officer Office Jharkhand and it was trending on X all over India.

He thanked all the voters, BLOs, private and government institution employees, all employees and officials associated with the election work who participated in the social media campaign.

 

He said that along with X, there was engagement for this hashtag on Instagram and Facebook as well. In this campaign of only 2 hours, the Instagram handle of the Chief Electoral Officer got more than 50 thousand views. At the same time, people also posted in large numbers on Facebook and YouTube.

Similarly, the voters of the state participated enthusiastically in the voter awareness campaign by tagging the social media handles of the District Election Officer of all the districts.

The CEO appealed to all the voters that this campaign will be run throughout the day on the occasion of polling day on 13th and 20th November. All voters should join this hashtag campaign and vote and also motivate other voters to vote.

He said that after voting, upload the selfie with ink on the finger or the content of video, photo, graphics of the voting experience on your social media platform with hashtag #VoteDeneChalo and tag the election related social media of your district or the social media handles of the Chief Electoral Officer.
