Alleging corruption in the development of the Sports Complex at Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Minister for Technical Education, Inder Singh Parmar.
In 2015, the university approved a budget of Rs 16.50 crores for the construction of an outdoor and indoor sports complex. This was later increased to Rs 19.16 crores in 2019.
The construction responsibility was assigned to CPA, which reported an expenditure of Rs 23.50 crores. However, the sports complex remains unfinished to this day, said ABVP while making the allegations.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) indicates that the outdoor stadium has still not been built, and the wooden flooring for the indoor stadium was replaced with low-quality plastic. Furthermore, instead of the 10 exhaust fans mentioned in the quotation, none have been installed, claimed the RSS affiliate.
The ABVP has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and called for appropriate punitive and legal action against those responsible.
