75th Van Mahotsav: CM reiterates commitment to save environment

Saturday, 27 July 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that people will be safe only if the environment is safe. If there are no trees and plants, then there will be a danger to the animals. To avoid such a situation in future, conservation of environment is absolutely necessary. The CM was addressing the 75th state-wide Van Mahotsav organized in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly premises as the chief guest.

He said that everyone needs to walk step by step for environmental balance. On this occasion, the Chief Minister and other guests reiterated the pledge of environmental protection by planting trees.

The Chief Minister said that we have been celebrating Van Mahotsav for 75 years. You can guess from this that the plants that would have been planted in the initial Van Mahotsav, in what condition would they be at present. Van Mahotsav is not just a program, but a big campaign to protect the environment. In such a situation, we should all pledge to plant as many trees as possible, so that we can control the imbalance that is being created in the environment.

The Chief Minister said that water, forest and land have been the identity of Jharkhand. There was a time when there were dense forests all around the state. There was greenery everywhere. During that time, there was no need for tree plantation. But, as we moved towards development, the forests came under threat. Trees were cut on a large scale due to various reasons including expansion of industries, large scale mining activities, construction of bridges, culverts and roads. Where there used to be forests, concrete jungles were built. Interference in the natural system had a direct impact on the environment.

Due to the imbalance of nature being disturbed, today we are facing various challenges. If we do not take care, we will have to be ready to face its serious consequences. In such a situation, everyone will have to come forward to plant as many trees as possible, only then will we be able to keep our lives safe along with the environment.

On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato, Ministers Rameshwar Oraon,  Irfan Ansari and Mithilesh Kumar Thakur, many MLAs, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, PCCF Sanjay Srivastava and many senior officials were present.
