743 candidates remain after scrutiny for 1st phase of polls

The scrutiny process of nominations for the first phase of Jharkhand assembly elections has been completed. After scrutiny on 43 assembly seats, 743 candidates are in the fray.

A total of 805 candidates had filed nominations from 43 assembly seats. October 30 is the last day for candidates to withdraw their nominations. After scrutiny, Barkagaon, Jamshedpur West and Hatia have the highest number of 28-28 candidates. 633 candidates contested on these 43 assembly seats in the 2019 assembly elections, whereas 743 candidates are in the fray for the 2024 assembly elections. Before the withdrawal of the names of the candidates, 90 more candidates are in the electoral fray this time.

 

Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar appreciated the work of all the volunteers assisting in the Lok Sabha. He said that all the volunteers selected for the polling day should ensure their participation in the festival of democracy. He was addressing lakhs of volunteers from schools for assisting the voters on the polling day today from the Election House during the training of what to do and what not to do through online medium.

 

Addressing the students, Kumar said that through this training, point-wise training has been given regarding your participation in the polling. Along with this, all the training material related to this has been made available to your teachers, so that while performing their duty, in case of any kind of doubt, they can get information from their teachers.

On this occasion, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Dev Das Dutta explained the guidelines related to the work of volunteers to all the students through PPT. In which mainly the help of Divyang and elderly people at the polling station, precautions to be taken while helping with wheelchair, availability of voter slip or token given to the voters standing in queue for voting, queue management system, voting under chain system etc., the work related to volunteers on polling day were explained pointwise.

On this occasion, officials of the School Education Department of all the districts, teachers and lakhs of students in all the schools of the state were present through online medium including Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora.
