Suffering from depression 54-year-old son of retired Director General of Police (DGP) of Chhattisgarh committed suicide by silitng wrist and thorat at his house in Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal, committed suicide on Saturday evening.
The deceased Tushar Shukla attempted suicide twice in the past two years. He silted his throat and wrist veins with a razor, and family members rushed him to Hazela Hospital in a critical condition but died before reaching the hospital.
Initial investigations reveal that he was suffering from depression for about two years and was also undergoing treatment for it.
Police said that statements of the family will be taken. Statements could not be taken at night. The razor with which Tushar slit his throat and wrist veins could not be recovered.
According to the police, the retired DGP lives with his family in Vaishali Nagar, Kamala Nagar. Tushar was married and has a son from the marriage.
At 5.30 pm on Saturday, he silted the vein of his hand with a razor in his room. When he sensed that cutting the vein of his hand would not kill him, he also slited his throat. As soon as the throat was silt, bleeding started heavily and as his wife Saumya Shukla saw it, she raised an alarm. Wife and son took Tushar Shukla to Hazela Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He used to spend most of his time reading books related to literature and spirituality.
Family members told the police that Tushar often used to read books on various subjects. He used to spend most of his time reading books related to literature and spirituality.
Police said that Tushar was suffering from severe depression for the last two years and during this time, he neither went out much nor met outsiders. Tushar confined himself to the house and felt lonely even among the family.
Police said that in view of the condition of the family, no inquiry has been done regarding the reasons for suicide. Tushar's father's family consists of his parents, wife and a son. Tushar's father was made the first DGP on 1 November 2000 after the formation of Chhattisgarh. He led the police force till 26 May 2001. After retirement, he lived in Vaishali Nagar, Bhopal.
