Four employees sustained injuries when a major fire broke out in a shopping mall in Keonjhar district on Sunday. The fire incident occurred in the building of Reliance Trends at Anandpur in the district in the afternoon.
Thick smoke was found billowing out of the building, which was open at the time.
Getting information, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to extinguish the blaze. At least four fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the fire under control.
The Fire Service personnel managed to rescue eight employees trapped in the smoke-filled mall. Four of the staffs who had sustained injuries were rushed to a local hospital.
Fortunately, no customer was present in the mall at the time the fire broke out. Fire Service officials suspected that the fire might have started due to a short circuit of electrical connections in the building.
