A total of three people filed their nomination papers on Friday, the first day of nomination for the first phase of assembly elections. In the first phase, voting will be held on November 13 for a total of 43 assembly seats in Jharkhand.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Neha Arora told in a press conference held at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva that one person each has filed nomination papers from Jamshedpur West, Ranchi and Kanke assembly constituencies. Nominations will be held till October 25 for the first phase of elections. Nominations will be held from 11 am to 3 pm every day except on holidays, she said.
Arora said that after the implementation of the model code of conduct in the state, illegal goods and cash worth Rs 1.25 crore have been seized so far. In that, the highest seizure of Rs 26.51 lakh has been made from Palamu district, while illegal goods and cash worth more than Rs 15 lakh have been seized from Ranchi and Chatra districts, she said.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer said that the districts where seizures of more than Rs 10 lakh have been made include Saraikela Kharsawan and Hazaribagh.
Arora said that out of the seizure of Rs 1.25 crore, Jharkhand Police has made the highest seizure of Rs 64.12 lakh, followed by Commercial Tax Department with Rs 28.28 lakh and Excise Department with Rs 24.03 lakh.
