Gandhi Nagar police have arrested 24 people while gambling in Bishankhedi forest, gamblers were putting bets, for light they were using a battery, an emergency light and two mats and Rs 2.25 lakh cash was seized.
The video of the entire action has also surfaced. Police have taken action against all the accused under the Gambling Act. Most of the accused are businessmen from Bairagarh.
SI Ayaz Chanda said that at 4 am on Monday, information was received from an informer that some people were gambling in Bishankhedi. After the information, a raid was conducted on the spot along with staff. Some gamblers tried to escape, who were arrested after being chased.
During the raid, it was found that 24 gamblers sitting on two mats were betting. Its videography was done and the accused were taken into custody and brought to the police station, where action was taken against all of them under the Gambling Act.
The police have seized 8 packs of playing cards, two mats, a battery and an emergency light from the spot. During interrogation, the accused said that they had come to the forest in different vehicles to gamble. Before gambling, a non-veg party was also held there.
