In an expansion of urban health services, the district will soon see 22 new Sanjeevani Clinics serving residents in the state capital. This launch brings the cumulative number of such clinics to 53.
The Chief Minister Sanjeevani Clinics augment the 22 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) and eight Civil Dispensaries, which have been upgraded to become part of the initiative, informed Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari, Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district.
Doctors and paramedical staff for the new clinics have already joined their respective institutions, which will be fully operational by the end of the month. A state government initiative, the new clinics will provide essential health services close to residents' homes. The clinics provide 208 types of medicines and 80 types of pathology tests free of charge.
To ensure that patients can access specialist doctors near their homes, on-call specialist doctors’ services will also be made available.
Currently, there are 46 operational Sanjeevani Clinics in Bhopal, which provided services to 452,331 beneficiaries in the year 2023-24. In the year 2024-25, more than two lakh beneficiaries have already received services.
Dr Tiwari said that staff appointments for all 22 new Sanjeevani Clinics have been completed, and medicines, equipment, and most resources have been made available at these institutions.
