The Bokaro district administration has enforced the "No Helmet, No Petrol" rule under the leadership of District Transport Officer (DTO) Vandana Shejwalkar. Petrol pump operators have been directed to deny fuel to two-wheeler riders without helmets and display prominent signage about the mandate.
The initiative, part of a statewide directive by the Jharkhand Transport Department, aims to reduce traffic accidents by ensuring helmet usage for both riders and pillion passengers. Regular inspections will be conducted to ensure compliance, with non-adhering petrol pumps facing penalties or legal action.
DTO Shejwalkar emphasized the importance of the rule, stating it is a step toward fostering a culture of road safety and responsibility. Public awareness campaigns involving schools, colleges, and local communities are also underway to educate citizens about the necessity of helmets.
With a rise in road accidents in the growing industrial and urban district, this measure aims to curb fatalities and set an example for other regions in Jharkhand. The administration hopes this initiative will encourage safer commuting practices and protect lives across the district.
