n the cherished memory of renowned poet Nirmal Milind, his wife Archana Milind has annually honored a distinguished litterateur with the 'Kavivar Nirmal Milind Smriti Samman' at the Jharkhand level since 2016. This year, the esteemed honor will be conferred upon celebrated poet, writer, and editor Ganga Prasad Arun.
Arun, known for his extensive contributions to Hindi and Bhojpuri literature, has been battling serious illness. On 4 December 2024, the award, which includes a cash prize of Rs. 11,000 and a citation, will be presented to him at his residence in Birsanagar by prominent storyteller Jayanandan. Jayanandan, recipient of the Lal Shukla Smriti IFFCO Sahitya Samman 2022 and the Yuva Gyanpeeth Award, will personally bestow this prestigious accolade.
Ganga Prasad Arun is a revered senior writer whose works span over decades. He has primarily excelled in the genres of songs and ghazals, with numerous published works to his credit. Some of his notable books include: Bhojpuri: Harat Hira, Angna Mahua Jhadal, Teen Dege Trilok, Ghazal Gawah Bani, Dwand Samas. Hindi: Tirti Si Parchaiyaan, Prem Na Badi Upje, Manuva Mangeet Likhe.
Arun has also made significant contributions as an editor for books and magazines such as Lakir and Rachnakaar. His active involvement with literary organizations and participation in seminars and conferences have left an indelible mark on the literary community.
The 'Kavivar Nirmal Milind Smriti Samman' has previously been bestowed upon several eminent personalities, including: Poetess Dr. Shanti Suman, Storyteller Dr. C. Bhaskar Rao, Journalist Dineshwar Prasad Singh 'Dinesh', Storyteller Jayanandan, Poetess Ragini Bhushan and Poet Naresh Agarwal.
