5T Chairman VK Pandian on Tuesday announced ‘Nua-O Magic Smart Card’ for eligible students in the State. He was addressing a gathering at a Nua-O event in Jajpur district.
By the month of August, Nua-O Magic Smart Cards would be given to all eligible students. The cards would provide them benefits like discount on bus/ train travel, free Wi-Fi, access of online courses, skill development, coaching programs, etc., based on performance and participation in various academic and extracurricular activities, said Pandian.
He also announced Nua-O scholarships for Plus-III and PG students. Boys would get Rs 9,000 each and girls Rs 10,000 each per year.
Students belonging to eligible SC/ ST and Nirman Shramik families would get Rs 10,000 (boys) and Rs 11,000 (girls) per year.
A Nua-O corpus fund of Rs 300 crore would be constituted from the upcoming academic year. Students excelling in academic and different co-curricular activities would get higher amount as scholarship from this corpus fund, Pandian said.
It is expected that about 4.5 lakh UG students and around 32,000 PG students will be benefited from the Nua-O scholarships scheme.
