The second phase of the ongoing Jharkhand Assembly election 2024 for 38 seats is slated to take place on November 20. The fate of 528 candidates who are in fray will be decided on this day. The richest candidate in this phase has assets declared worth more than Rs 400 crore while the one with the lowest asset has made a declaration of Rs 100.
According to the data released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), out of the 528 aspirants, 38 candidates have assets worth more than five crore, 42 have assets worth the value of two to five crore, 130 candidates have declared assets valued between 50 lakh to two crore, 176 contenders have assets worth 10 to 50 lakh and the remaining 136 nominees have assets worth less than 10 lakh.
The data also stated that as many as 148 candidates have registered criminal cases against them while 122 are known to have serious criminal cases filed in their names. Cases related to atrocities on women are filed against 12 applicants while three have murder charges and 34 have cases regarding attempted to murder in their names.
As many as 55 women candidates will be contesting in the second phase About 220 contenders who are fighting to get elected to be a part of the next government are between the age of 25 to 40 years, 238 seekers are in the age group of 41 to 60 years while the average age of 64 applicants is between 61 to 80 years.
The ADR report further revealed that in the second phase of the election, the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has fielded the maximum number of crorepatis which is 32. This is followed by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at 18 and Congress at 10. All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) has five such candidates whereas the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and RJD have four and two crorepatis respectively.
In terms of educational qualifications, one is illiterate, 34 have declared themselves to be literate, four are class 5 pass, 36 are class 8 pass, 91 are standard 10 pass while 116 are standard 12 pass. 127 candidates are said to be graduates while another 29 are graduate professionals. 73 claim to be postgraduates where as five have doctorates and six candidates are diploma holders.
Aquil Aktar who is contesting in a Samajwadi Party from Pakur has the highest declared assets worth approximately Rs 403 crore.
Aktar is followed by Niranjan Rai who is fighting the polls from Dhanwar seat as an independent candidate and has declared assets worth over Rs 137 crore. The third in this list is Aazad Samaj Party’s Mohammad Danish with declared assets worth more than Rs 32 crore.
Two more independent contestants Rajeshwar Mahto and Jitendra Oraon only have Rs 100 and Rs 2500 respectively while Anil Bauri – an SUCI candidate has ten thousand rupees.
