In a development that has put the BJP-led ruling MahaYuti in a spot of bother, the Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT) on Thursday promised to scrap two major projects -- the Dharavi redevelopment project in Mumbai and Barsu super-refinery project in Ratnagiri district, if the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) come to power in the state. Making an announcement to this effect at a function organised to release his party’s manifesto, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said: “We will scrap the existing tender for the Dharavi redevelopment project in Mumbai. We will also scrap the super-refinery project at Barsu”.
The scrapping of Dharavi and Barsu are two of the promises made in the manifesto of the fShiv Shiv Sena(UBT). “We will give houses to Dharavikars in Dharavi and they would also be able to do business there,” Uddhav said.
The other promises made in the Sena (UBT)’s manifesto include free education for male students, stabilising prices of essential items, construction of temples of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in each of the 36 districts of the state and scraping of cluster development of Koliwadas and Gaothans.
The release of the manifesto came a day after the Congress released its five Assembly poll guarantees to the people of the state, at a joint rally of the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Apart from its welfare measures, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has laid emphasis on the scrapping of Dharavi redevelopment project in Mumbai and Barsu super-refinery project in Ratnagiri district.
