DJB, PWD, MCD fail to resolve waterlogging in Capital, says BJP

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Friday accused the Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in failing the residents of the national Capital in resolving the waterlogging crisis while accusing the AAP government of  ‘drain cleaning scam’.

Sachdeva said, “Every year before monsoon an exercise of cleaning of drains be it 18 major drains like Najafgarh Drain, East Delhi Drain, Barapullah Drain and Delhi Gate Drain happens along with other smaller drains which all total upto around 700 drains.”

He claimed that while this exercise happens every year, it’s shocking to see that this year most of the drains have not been cleaned. “Delhi is facing worst ever water logging crisis during monsoon this year. Earlier water logging happened at the start of monsoon and after one or two rains water logging became a limited affair in which water got accumulated then cleared within hours but today water remained logged for 10 to 12 hours,” Sachdeva alleged.

The Delhi BJP chief claimed that the residents faced worst ever water logging at different parts of the city including Kirari, Paharganj, Kalkaji, Munirka, Mehrauli Badar a Road, Kotla Mubarkpur, Sangam Vihar, Devli, Saket, Minto Bridge, ITO, Rajghat, Jahangirpuri, Laxmi Nagar and Geeta Colony.

“It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Arvind Kejriwal led government has defeated its own liquor scam with its ‘Drains Non Cleaning Scam’. The Jal Board, PWD and MCD have totally failed Delhiites in resolving the waterlogging crisis,” he said, appealing to Anti Corruption Bureau to take suo motto cognizance of the ‘Drain Cleaning Scam’ of the three departments.
