BJP will win Maharashtra, Jharkhand before big target Bengal: HM Shah

Monday, 28 October 2024 | Saugar Sengupta | Kolkata

The BJP will drive away Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress form Bengal in 2026 but before that it will do a ‘Haryana’ and ‘Odisha’ in Maharashtra and Jharkhand (State elections) where it will shatter Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s dream a la Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said.

Shah who launched a membership drive in the State to set the “next big target” of winning Bengal in 2026 for the party’s state unit said that I have come to tell the youth of Bengal that if you want to end the rule of cut money, corruption and savor Rabindra Sangeet instead of crackling sound of bombs and establish the rule of law then the only way is to end the TMC’s syndicate raj and bring BJP to power in 2026 … that is our next big target.”

Attacking the Mamata Banerjee Government for the incidents like Sandeshkhali and RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Shah said that “there is no respect for women in Bengal … that the mothers and sisters cannot live with honour in this State is proved by the incidents of RG Kar and Sandeshkhali.”

An lady doctor was on August 9, brutally raped and murdered inside the RGKMCH triggering a nationwide upheaval.

Taking a dig at the Congress leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi he said, “like it happened before the MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan elections Rahul Baba was dreaming of defeating BJP … he also was daydreaming of winning Haryana and Odisha but in both the States the Congress suffered defeat,” iterating “this time also I announce that like in Haryana, MP and Odisha the BJP will emphatically win both Jharkhand and Maharashtra.”

Saying that the BJP was a proud party because “Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the only such person to form a Government for the third consecutive time,” he wondered why Gandhi was going to town claiming the BJP had been defeated in the parliamentary elections. “Rahul Baba is saying that the BJP has been defeated in the elections but he doesn’t seem to understand that a winner always forms the Government and the loser like them sits in the Opposition … they are telling that the BJP has won only 240 seats but they tend to forget that the Congress has not win that many seats together in the past three elections.”

Attacking Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for unleashing a violent rule in Bengal he said that, after winning in 2024 Parliamentary elections “she was thinking that the BJP has been obliterated from Bengal but she does not that we are a party that started from two seats to win 370 and went on to abolish (Article) 370 … we work for a goal --- which in this case is to win Bengal in 2026 --- we don’t work to make our nephew a next Chief Minister.”

Dismissing Banerjee’s claims that the Centre had been depriving Bengal of its legitimate funds Shah said that unlike during t he UPA Government of which she was a partner, the NDA had given her more funds.

“Mamata didi is misleading the people about central allocation of funds … she is telling that the Centre is not giving her funds … but in reality the INDIA (formerly UPA) alliance when it was in power had given Bengal Rs 1.09 lakh crore between 2004 and 2014 whereas the NDA Government has given Bengal Rs 7.74 lakh crore between 2014 and 2024 … similarly for MNREGA UPA gave Bengal Rs 15,000 crore whereas NDA gave RS 54,000 crore … In PMAY the NDA Government gave Bengal Rs 50,000 crore whereas the UPA Government only Rs 4,500 crore … and still she is misleading the people by peddling lies,” he said adding asking the people to bring a second Parivartan (change) in Bengal “to end cut money and syndicate raj … to see that the farmers’ and poor men’s allocations that are released by the Centre do not go into the pockets of any TMC leader.”
