The holy city of Ayodhya is set to celebrate a historic Deepotsav, marking the first festival since the Pran Pratishtha (consecration) of Ramlala. This year, Ayodhya aims to achieve three Guinness World Records, a feat symbolic of its grandeur and spiritual significance.
On Wednesday, the festival will witness an unprecedented lighting of 25 lakh diyas (earthen lamps), a simultaneous Maha Aarti by 1,100 priests on the Saryu riverbanks, and a breathtaking display of eco-friendly “green” fireworks at the Saryu bridge.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also join the Maha Aarti, with the first rehearsal for this remarkable event held on the banks of the Saryu on Monday night.
In anticipation of the massive influx of pilgrims and dignitaries, security has been ramped up throughout Ayodhya. Security forces, including over 200 STF, ATS, and CRPF commandos, are deployed across the temple premises and surrounding areas. Technical surveillance has been enhanced, and plainclothes intelligence agents are stationed at key points to monitor for potential disturbances.
A multi-layered security setup is in place, employing bomb detectors, dog squads, face recognition technology, and drones for real-time monitoring. Verification of guests at local hotels, lodges, and dharamshalas has also been conducted to ensure public safety.
SSP Rajkaran Nayyar confirmed the extensive security arrangements, emphasizing a strict response to any disturbances. Armed personnel will also be positioned along the route of the processions, with security forces having undergone multiple training sessions to maintain order while interacting cordially with devotees.
Security has been reinforced at the district borders, with a rigorous checking of vehicles from nearby regions. Various points throughout Ayodhya Dham are under heightened surveillance to preempt security threats.
As the three-day Deepotsav began on Monday, Ayodhya dazzled onlookers with its grand two-kilometer decoration. From Udaya Chowk to Nayaghat, and Dharampath to Saryu Bridge, the city’s historical essence is reawakened through vibrant laser shows and cultural performances, captivating thousands.
Ayodhya transformed into Ramnagari
The city has been transformed into a Ram-centric nagri, resounding with bhajans, devotional and of Lord Ram. By Wednesday evening, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will illuminate a diya at Ram Ki Paidi, igniting a total of 29 lakh lamps across Ayodhya, casting the city in radiant light. From Ram Ki Paidi to Saryu Ghat and Ram Katha Park, the cityscape mirrors the reverent era of Treta Yuga. Thousands of students are creating a decorative garland of lamps at Ram Ki Paidi, adding to the enchantment with a laser show depicting the Ramayana, allowing visitors a glimpse into the epic tale.
Decorative arches, grand gates, and hoardings along the main highway enhance the Deepotsav ambiance, while traditional folk culture is also prominently featured. On the auspicious day, Bharatkund, a mythological site associated with Bharat, Lord Ram’s devoted brother, will also be adorned with 25,000 diyas. For this purpose, 700 volunteers from six schools have been designated, with Shri Bharat Intermediate College serving as the nodal school to orchestrate a grand event.
The spirit of Ayodhya’s Deepotsav, infused with reverence, historical significance, and unity, promises an unforgettable spectacle for devotees and visitors alike. This year’s festivities are anticipated to set a new standard, embedding Ayodhya’s Deepotsav in the annals of history.
