Twelve rat-hole miners, who gained international fame after rescuing 41 workers trapped in the collapsed under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi in November last year, were each awarded Rs 50,000 in cheque at an event held in New Delhi on Sunday.
While handing over the cheques to the rat-hole miners, Jamia Cooperative Bank Chairman Mirza Qamarul Hasan Beg said they risked their lives to save others, and hence, the bank decided to give them the MFH Beg Memorial Awards and cheques during its founder’s day celebration.
