A 28-year-old youth was beaten to death with sticks by three people over a petty dispute in Maharajganj.
On Sunday night, Salman of Narayanpur village under the Ghughuli police station in Maharajganj was beaten to death with sticks by three people outside Ballo village, Additional Superintendent of Police Atish Kumar Singh said on Monday.
According to reports, Salman hit a cyclist, Vishram, while he was returning home on his motorcycle. Vishram called his two sons from Ballo village and they beat Salman with sticks leading to his death, the ASP said, adding that all three accused had been arrested.
Police sent the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, four persons, including a child, died while three others were injured in a head-on collision between a car and a trailer truck in Mirzapur, police said on Monday.
Reports said a car coming from the wrong side collided with a trailer truck in front of Ankit Hospital in Narayanpur town under Adalhat police station in the wee hours of Sunday. Four occupants of the car, three of them women, were killed on the spot while three others were injured, ASP OP Singh said. The injured were admitted to a hospital.
Police have seized the trailer truck involved in the accident. The driver of the trailer truck was arrested on the basis of the car driver’s complaint.
The car was going from Varanasi to Sonbhadra.
The deceased were identified as Shakeela Bano (56), Husn Ara (40), Samita Parveen (35) and Dilshan Bakhtiar (12).
