XLRI: TCS head highlights importance of embracing digital transformation

As part of the CXO Session, XLRI PGDM(GM) hosted Gopal Krishna, Country Head, Market Function & Product Head – TCS iON, Tata Consultancy Services, Mumbai addressed the students of XLRI.

The session served as a platform for insightful discussions, sharing of best practices, and exploring innovative strategies to harness the power of digital technologies.

Krishna emphasized the need for businesses to adapt and embrace digital transformation in order to stay competitive in the digital age. "Digital transformation is not merely about incorporating technology into existing processes; it is a fundamental shift in mindset, culture, and operations," stated the country head.

The event began with an inaugural address by Kautilya Dubey, XLRI Jamshedpur, who welcomed the guest speaker, Gopal Krishna and the GST members, cohort PGDM (GM) offered a warm welcome.

The speaker highlighted the rapid pace of technological advancements and the transformative opportunities they present for organizations across various sectors

Gopal Krishna spoke about several facets of leadership and how it has to be contextualized in ever changing dynamics of the contemporary world. He began discussing the qualities required to be a successful leader in any firm.  The distinguished speaker explained his career trajectory, how he has seamlessly navigated across several domains in his enriching career.

Gopal Krishna also explained the challenges that he had faced in his professional experience to date, and he explained how tactfully he has been dealing with all his challenges

He opined that contemporary business leaders should be adaptable to the global disruptions especially post pandemic.  He also enforced his emphasis on cross functional learnings that make managers leaders in the truest sense. He has explained strategy as an important dimension for any organization and he explained TCS ion journey and how it has been a pioneer in conducting online exams for recruitment boards smoothly throughout the country.

He also spoke at length on contextualising the strategy in accordance with the times we live in.

He was asked about his views on the digital transformation in India and how managers should partner in this digital transformation. He also dovetailed on market dynamics, consumer behaviour and business models when entering new markets. Krishna stressed the need for building a comprehensive ecosystem, prioritizing customer satisfaction and fostering synergy among the stakeholders.

The session ended with a few questions from the students on strategy, product management and leadership. Gopal Krishna answered their queries and   wished the students of XLRI PGDM(GM) an exciting year of learning and prosperous careers ahead.
