Women are more empowered today: CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Monday that women are today more empowered and self-dependent.

He was praising the work of women self-help groups on his visit to village Chirra in Rampur assembly constituency in Korba district.

He inspected the activities conducted at the Rural Industrial Park or RIPA, an official communication said.

Praising the skills of members, he said RIPA will play an important role in making the rural economy strong and self-reliant.

The activities conducted in RIPA have a potential to generate good profits and provide better income to women in villages. He then took a selfie with the members.

RIPA has activities mainly of processing turmeric, chili, spices, gram flour, fragrant rice, pickle, badi, incense sticks, manufacturing of dona pattal, slippers, cow dung paint, ash bricks, paver block, putty, fencing and others.

The Chief Minister asked district Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha to open a Gadkaleva and a Coffee Point in view of the potential for tourism in the area.

Lalita Rathia of village Chirra said a total of 15 activities are conducted. The total sale of products is Rs 6 lakhs. The net profit earned is Rs 2.15 lakhs.

Baghel inaugurated WiFi facility at the centre.

The Chief Minister planted a jackfruit sapling at the RIPA centre. Other dignitaries planted mango saplings.
