Tuesday, 31 January 2023 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal '

After a lull phase of abrupt weather conditions it turned abrupt again on Monday with heavy rainfall and hail storms at different places in the state.

In the untimely rains crops have suffered damages which have been witnessed frequently in the past one year and with the first month of new year the pattern continues. It started raining in Gwalior, Datia on Monday evening while it is cloudy in Bhopal, Guna, Narmadapuram and Sagar.

According to the Meteorological Department, the rainy spell may continue for the next few days. There is a possibility of rain in 16 districts of the state including Bhopal, Gwalior-Chambal divisions.

Earlier, it rained in Gwalior,  after two days on Sunday. In Indore too, water fell at some places late in the night. Hailstorm was witnessed in  Guna and Ratlam on Sunday night. According to the Meteorological Department, similar weather will continue till January 31. There will be a drop in the night temperatures from February 1.

The day temperature in Khandwa-Mandla has crossed 32 degrees. The temperature in Narmadapuram, Khargone, Damoh, Umaria is more than 30 degrees. In many cities, the night para is more than 14 degrees. Rewa recorded the lowest temperature in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday night. The mercury has recorded 9 degree celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, a new system is being formed from February 2. Due to this, there is a possibility of the next Western Disturbance being effective. The Western Disturbance is active in the form of a trough between the westerly winds of the middle troposphere.

Western disturbance has disturbed the cold trend of January in Bhopal. This is the reason that for the second time after 2018, the last week of January was the hottest in Bhopal.

For the last 6 days, the minimum temperature remained around 15 degree Celsius. This change in the weather has happened due to Western Disturbance not making a very strong system.
