Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that police is playing criticle role in transforming the state into an island of peace. They maintain law and order for us round the clock. It is the responsibility of the state government to look after police officer-employes who are on duty day and night along with their family.
Chief Minister Chouhan has expressed his displeasure over not taking action to continue the MP Police Health Protection Scheme implemented in the year 2013 for the families of police officers and employees from the year 2019 onwards.
Acting promptly on the instruction of Chief Minister Chouhan to immediately present the scheme before the Cabinet, the Police department immediately prepared a proposal and submitted it to the Cabinet with in-principle approval from the Finance Department. In the Cabinet meeting held on June 28, 2023, Chief Minister Chouhan approved this scheme for continuous operation for the next five years after March 31, 2019.
MP Police Health Protection Scheme: Key Features
In the scheme, the facility of cashless treatment of serious diseases is available to all police officers/employees (except Indian Police Service) of Madhya Pradesh and their dependent family members.
In order to provide the facility of cashless treatment to the police officers-employees and their dependent family members, an admission fee of Rs. 100 (once in the entire service period) and annual contribution of Rs 600 is taken from the beneficiaries of the scheme at the time of taking membership after which M.P. Police Health Protection Scheme Fund has been constituted.
A contract has been signed for providing cashless treatment to all police officers and employees from additional superintendent of police to the constable level and dependent family members as per the rules of the government by co-ordinating with 46 private hospitals authorised for treatment according to the prescribed CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme) rates within the state and 9 outside the state total 55 private hospitals by adding them to the scheme by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
So far, 26 thousand 709 police family members and their dependents have been benefitted from better and life-saving treatment of serious diseases under the scheme.
This scheme is very important for the officers and employees of the police department and their dependent family members. All the police officers and employees of the state service are being benefited by this.
As a result of the scheme, a feeling of security has arisen among the officers and employees of the department regarding health treatment that if required, free treatment can be provided through the scheme and later payment will be made to the hospitals after approval as per rules. In such a situation, availability of funds in advance for treatment and immediate payment to hospitals after treatment will not create a situation.
In this way, the officers and employees of the police remain assured about the amount of expenditure incurred on the treatment of illness of themselves and their dependent family members.
