UPEIDA upgrading its app to enhance highways evaluation

Saturday, 25 November 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

With the objective of enhancing the highway evaluation process, the Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has decided to upgrade its mobile app.

This upgrade aims to facilitate the inspection of ongoing development projects on highways connected to industrial corridors in the state. The app will be upgraded and equipped with modern facilities.

The software, developed by Uttar Pradesh Electronics Corporation Limited (UPECL), is currently being utilised by UPEIDA and the responsibility for upgrading it will be handed over to a service provider agency.

In this process, through the Request for Proposal (RFP) medium, the selection of a service provider agency will be determined through the e-bidding process among the empanelled agencies in UPECL.

While upgrading the mobile app, the service provider agency will incorporate several features to assist in the evaluation and settlement of issues related to the ongoing activities on the expressway.

The upgraded mobile app will be equipped with various advanced features. It will include a database of highways falling under the jurisdiction of UPEIDA. Additionally, it will maintain a record of the work carried out by the companies that secured contracts during the annual contract period for evaluation of the ongoing construction and development works on all these highways.

Further, the app will include contact details of officials and individuals, which will help in facilitating communication with them and fixing accountability. This will not only enhance the evaluation process but also expedite the dispute resolution process, ensuring a precise assessment of the real status of all construction projects and providing momentum to their progress.

At present, UPEIDA is working rapidly to complete various works on the routes connecting expressways and industrial corridors across the state and with the advanced features of the mobile app, this process will further speed up.

With the objective of constantly upgrading the facilities, UPEIDA has decided to provide the facility of six advanced high-roof ambulances with advanced life support systems. These ambulances will be initially leased for a period of one year.

Additionally, the construction process has commenced for a four-lane connecting road in Bhatgaon, located in Sarojininagar, Lucknow, under the defence industrial corridor. The work has also started for various projects like the repair work of the airstrip for aircraft landing on the Purvanchal Expressway, the completion of CNG works in the Jhansi node, and the construction of reservoirs in Ghatampur, Kanpur, under the defence industrial corridor.

The development work for the wayside amenities along the Bundelkhand, Purvanchal and Gorakhpur Link Expressways has begun. This includes the development of emergency services and various civic amenities for the benefit of commuters traveling on these expressways.
