Only the permanent residents of Uttarakhand will be appointed as the nursing officers in the State Health department. A process to recruit 1564 nursing officers is at present going on in the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UMSSB). In a statement, the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said on Tuesday that baseless comments are being given by some people in the social media about the recruitment of nursing officers. He said that there is a clear regulation for recruitment of nursing officers in the Health department which clearly mentions that only the candidates having domicile of Uttarakhand are eligible for recruitment. He said that the State government has decided to recruit nursing officers on the basis of year wise seniority of doing the qualifying course and has authorised the UMSSB to recruit candidates.

The board has invited applications from the eligible candidates for nursing officers recruitment in which the eligibility conditions are clearly mentioned. The reservation roaster applicable in the State would be followed in the recruitment. Rawat said that UMSSB would start the process of verification of documents of the eligible candidates from May 3 and after it the year wise merit list would be prepared. The candidates would be selected on the basis of the merit list and their appointment would be made in the districts. The health minister said that the appointment of 1,564 nursing officers in the district and sub district hospitals would help in providing better treatment to the patients. He said that appointment of nursing officers on vacant posts is being done after a long period of time. Rawat disclosed that 1,383 posts of nursing officers would be filled in the Medical Education department soon.
