Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, on Sunday, instructed the officials of Rural Development department to train MGNREGA workers as per the target set under Project Unnati.
Negligence in this work will not be tolerated at any level, he warned.
Instructions have been given to all chief development officers to regularly review the progress of this programme.
“To ensure that MGNREGA workers do not remain mere workers, they should be made skilled and competent in their desired field,” the deputy chief minister said.
For the successful implementation of Project Unnati, arrangements have been made to provide training to MGNREGA job card holders/eligible and interested family members who have completed 100 days of employment in the age group of 18-45 years through Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI).
Maurya said that by making MGNREGA workers skilled, they would be able to increase their incomes by working in various projects.
Rural Development Commissioner GS Priyadarshi said that instructions had been given to all chief development officers to provide 100 days’ employment from the financial year 2018-19 to the financial year 2023-24 to the eligible and willing MGNREGA workers aged 18-45 years.
State Rural Livelihood Mission Director Deepa Ranjan has instructed all chief development officers to ensure the selection of beneficiaries as per the prescribed target and through prescribed procedure and get the selected MGNREGA workers registered on the skill register through the district level Skill Development Mission.
The RSETIs would take up the process of providing training to the registered beneficiaries in interested professions like plumber, electrician, masonry etc. with utmost seriousness by forming online batches and training them through RSETIs.
She directed the mission offices to ensure timely registration of the list of MGNREGA workers provided by Swayam Rozgar on the skill register portal by the deputy commissioner of the district.

Deputy commissioners of Self-Employment of all the districts have been directed to ensure skill registration of as many eligible and willing MGNREGA workers in the district as possible on the skill register.
