A daring burglary attempt at the Bank of India's Kolabira branch was made by the criminals. The incident, which unfolded in the wee hours of the day, has raised concerns about the security measures in place at the bank.

The criminals made a bid of burglary at the Bank of India’s (BoI) Kolabira branch under Seraikela thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday.

According to information, though the burglars succeeded in barging inside the bank premises by breaking the grill, they could not reach the vault.

A police party from Seraikela police station rushed to the spot followed by a team of BoI management. After verification, the bank management declared that the cash and other valuables in the vault were intact.

The criminals had entered the bank premises on the first floor, breaking the grill. They had climbed onto the first floor by means of pipes.

Significantly, before swooping over the bank the burglars had locked the front doors of all the residential houses in the neighbourhood. As the doors were locked from the outside, the house owners had a tough time getting rid of the situation.

Sub-divisional police officer, Seraikela, Harvinder Singh confirmed that an abortive burglary attempt was committed at the BoI’s Kolabira branch on the intervening night of Tuesday.

The attempted burglary highlights the significance of the security measures implemented by financial institutions and the vital role played by law enforcement agencies in safeguarding public assets. Bank officials have expressed their gratitude for the prompt response of the local police, which prevented potential damage to the bank's property and ensured the protection of customers' assets.
