Student leader Jairam Mahto forms new party

Tuesday, 20 June 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Student leader Jairam Mahto has formed a new political party on Sunday. The name of this party is Jharkhandi Bhasha Khatian Sangharsh Samiti (JBKSS) while the symbol of the party has been kept as tiger as Jairam is famously called as Tiger by his friends and supporters. At a function held at Baliapur 30kms from Coal Capital (Dhanbad), a large number of people attended the convention despite scornful heat and humidity. Jairam was appointed as president of the new political party. After the announcement of a new party, Jairam made his intention clear and announced to jump into electoral politics saying that his party will contest all Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in next year general election and state assembly election.

The 28 year old youth also dared that until the Khatian of 1932 is implemented, his party will not sit quietly. On Sunday, a unanimous decision was taken to form JBKSS at the state level convention at the airstrip ground in Baliapur. The JBKSS party was unanimously formed to contest all the seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha elections.

Addressing the convention, student leader-turned-politician Jairam Mahto said that the Jharkhand of the dreams of the martyrs has not been built. Jharkhandis made sacrifices for Jharkhand. Outsiders are ruling here. To whom he entrusted the administration considering himself as his own, he is disappointing the people of Jharkhand. The people of Jharkhand are being tricked through communalism and capitalism. Until the Khatian of 1932 is implemented, JBKSS will not sit quietly.

Without naming any politician directly he said that our land has been lost and planning is being done by the people of other states. The MPs here are elected by the votes of the people of the village and remain silent at the time of getting their rights. The public will continue the agitation for their rights. It is said that in the whole of Jharkhand, the land of the people here has been taken at one-fourth price. People have been fooled. There are many people who sell their land and are forced to beg at stations and markets. He said that there is a need to save Jal Jungle Zameen (water, forest and land).

Jairam Mahto, said, “Due to lack of provision guaranteeing the rights of local residents, the other people coming from outside the state are taking away their land, jobs, produce and plundering the resources of the state.”

“Go to states like Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and there is provision for protection of local languages there but in our state there is no such provision,” added Mahto.

Sources said that more than 4000 four wheelers, 10,000 to 15000 bike riders, along with more than 50000 people even in 44 degree Celsius were at the convention. The enthusiasm of the people was such that even in the scorching heat people from different areas of Dhanbad and Bokaro attended the rally.
