State BJP chief Marandi in new role meets PM Modi

Tuesday, 11 July 2023 | PNS | Ranchi

Jharkhand BJP's newly appointed state president Babulal Marandi on Monday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. After meeting the Prime Minister, Marandi tweeted, "Today I had a courtesy meeting with the successful Prime Minister, Respected Narendra Modi. The guidance and blessings of the respected Prime Minister have always been available. Many thanks to the respected Prime Minister for this affection."

Marandi left for Delhi on Sunday. This is his first visit to Delhi after becoming the State president. Marandi will also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He will meet National President JP Nadda, Central Organization General Secretary BL Santosh and other central leaders and express gratitude for the new responsibility. During this, there will also be a discussion about the Lok Sabha elections.

In fact, BJP is working in a mission mode in preparation for the Lok Sabha and Vidhansabha elections. During this, BJP has also made many major changes in the party. After handing over the command of Jharkhand to Babulal Marandi, Babulal's pace seems to be getting faster.

BJP’s new state president Babulal Marandi will take charge on July 15. On this day the party is preparing to organize the program. Officials from other districts will also participate in the programme. Former President Deepak Prakash will complete the formalities of taking over the post of Marandi. State in-charge Laxmikant Vajpayee can also participate in the program. Mr. Marandi’s supporters can reach Ranchi on this day.

Last week BJP appointed its time-tested tribal face—Babulal Marandi as state BJP’s new president replacing Deepak Prakash. Marandi’s appointment as state BJP president was made by party national president Jagat Prakash Nadda. The appointment was announced by BJP national general secretary Arun Singh.

The appointment of Marandi as BJP president assumes importance as State BJP has seen organisational change ahead of general election and Assembly election both next year.

The JMM, which has a strong base among Santhals in Kolhan and Santhal Pargana will face a match in Babulal Marandi, who happens to be the tallest Santhali leader in the BJP, Besides, he also commands a good support base among non-tribals.

Sources said that Marandi could be the best person to counter the JMM, which won the elections promising the electorates to define locals on the 1932 Khatiyan and hiking reservation to 77 per cent.
Marandi will be given free hand by the BJP central leadership to explore the possibility of weaning away disgruntled tribal votes from the JMM.
